Aconcagua Info

Weather and climbing season

Aconcagua’s dry appearance does not make its weather simple. Wind and exposure can stop an ascent when the sky looks otherwise clear.

Season is a probability, not a guarantee

The main climbing season is chosen because access and average conditions are generally more workable, not because storms disappear. Useful planning separates climate, medium-range forecasts and observations made on the mountain.

Wind deserves its own decision

At extreme altitude, wind increases heat loss, destabilises movement and can turn a marginal temperature into an unsafe exposure. Forecast wind at different elevations matters more than a single weather icon for Mendoza or the park entrance.
